Maven Trading Rules: What’s Allowed and What’s Not

Maven Trading Rules: What’s Allowed and What’s Not
7/10/2025
If you are thinking of buying a Maven Trading Challenge then understanding the trading rules is just as important as having a good strategy. At Maven Trading, the trading rules are there to create a level playing field, protect the integrity of the platform, and help traders grow the right way.
Let us break down on what is allowed, what is off limits and why it all matters at Maven Trading.
Overview of Maven Trading Prop Firm

First, let us get to know the prop firm. Maven Trading has been around since 2022, and in just a short time, it has built a solid reputation. The Maven Trading prop firm is known for offering fast payouts, tight risk controls, and strong support for traders across the globe. It is also rated highly on the TrustPilot and has even bagged a few awards along the way.
Maven Trading is not just another prop firm it is a place for traders to practice, learn, and grow in a risk-free simulated environment while being rewarded for their performance. And yes, the platform is serious about trading rules and fair play.
What Trading Strategies are Allowed At Maven Trading

Let us start with the green zone what you are absolutely allowed to do at Maven Trading.
- Weekend Holding: You are free to hold trades over the weekend.
- Swap-Free Trading: Available upon request.
- Copy Trading (Within Your Own Accounts): Allowed only in 2-Step and 3-Step challenges. Not allowed in the 1-Step challenge.
- Scaling Up Your Account: Yes, traders who maintain consistency and meet growth milestones can scale up to $1,000,000.
- Trading During News Events (Carefully): Allowed, but you cannot open or close trades within 2 minutes before or after a red-folder event. More on that below.
Does Maven Trading Allow Scaling? Yes!
Maven Trading’s scaling plan is built for consistent performers. If you:
- Maintain 10% profit across 4 months (2.5% monthly average)
- And make at least one payout per month
- Then your account grows 25% bigger every time you qualify, all the way up to $1 million.
What Trading Practices are Prohibited at Maven Trading

Now, here is where things get strict and for good reason. Maven Trading takes trading behavior seriously and won’t tolerate the following:
Prohibited Strategies & Behaviors
- Copy Trading from Others: No mirroring third-party trades or external platforms.
- High-Frequency Trading (HFT): Completely forbidden. This includes exploiting server speeds.
- Toxic Order Flow / Arbitrage: Includes tick, latency, and hedge arbitrage techniques.
- Overleveraging: Managing risk poorly or margin misuse can get your account flagged.
- One-Sided Bets (All-In): Placing a single large trade with no stop loss to try and pass a challenge in one shot? That is a no go.
- Excessive Scalping: If more than 50% of your trades last under a minute, that counts as gambling not strategy.
- Martingale Strategy: Opening 5+ positions on the same pair while in drawdown is considered reckless.
- Grid Trading: Placing multiple layered orders without structured exit plans is not allowed.
- Reverse Hedging or Group Hedging: Betting in the opposite direction across multiple accounts is a clear violation.
- Gambling Behavior: Trading without logic or with max drawdown trades to "test your luck" will get your account flagged.
- Using EAs (Expert Advisors): Not allowed under any circumstances.
Can I Trade News on Maven Trading? (Yes, but…)
News events cause big market spikes, which can be tempting for quick wins. But Maven Trading wants fair trades not lucky guesses during volatility.
Here is the rule: You cannot open or close any trades 2 minutes before or after a red-folder news release (as marked on ForexFactory). This includes:
- Take profits
- Stop losses
- Auto-close triggered by hitting a profit target
If your trade is triggered during this window, it Is a violation, even if it was placed earlier. And that means your challenge result won’t be valid.
The rule applies to both Maven Trading evaluation and live accounts, but not to instant funding programs.
Examples of Red Folder News:
- CPI, FOMC, GDP, NFP (Non-Farm Payroll), Interest Rate decisions
- Affected assets: Forex pairs, XAUUSD, Indices (US500, US100), Oil pairs, and more
KYC, Identity, and IP Rules at Maven Trading
Maven Trading wants to know who you are literally. Their KYC (Know Your Customer) process is strict, and here is what you need to remember:
- Use your real name and ID passport, driver's license, or any official document.
- Only one email per trader. If you try using multiple emails, your KYC will fail.
- You must use your own card. If your payment method does not match your ID, you won’t get funded.
- Nigerian traders can complete KYC with a selfie and NIN number.
- No changes to personal info once you have placed a trade or started KYC.
Maven Trading also monitors IP addresses. If your IP changes unexpectedly, they will ask for proof (like travel tickets or live location checks). Multiple accounts from the same IP can result in a breach.
Maven Trading Consistency Rule
You can’t just have one massive trade and coast to the payout. Maven Trading applies a 20% consistency rule, which means:
- Your biggest winning trade can’t be more than 20% of your total profit.
- So even if you hit your target, if it came from a single moonshot, you won’t get paid.
What Happens If You Break the Rules at Maven Trading?
If you are caught breaking the rules, here is what you are looking at:
- Immediate account termination
- Loss of profits or bonuses
- No access to future challenges
- Possible legal action if it involves fraud or ID manipulation
Even if it seems like a small thing, Maven Trading does not take chances when it comes to cheating. They want honest traders and they reward them well.
Best Practices for Staying Safe
- Always trade with stop-losses
- Don’t open or close trades around red-folder news
- Avoid rapid-fire scalping unless it is clearly within the guidelines
- Never use bots, scripts, or automated trading tools
- Stay updated with rule changes read your challenge dashboard often
Remember: the goal is to show skill, not exploit systems.
