Do Small Prop Firms Actually Pay?
If you've been in the prop firm space long enough, you've probably asked yourself this question.
Or maybe you've seen someone ask it in a Discord server, on X, or in a trading community.
"Can I really trust a small prop firm?"
It's a fair question.
The industry has seen firms appear overnight, make big promises, delay payouts, change rules unexpectedly, or disappear altogether. Naturally, many traders stick to the bigger names because they feel safer.
I was the same way.
Most of my trading experience has been with established prop firms. They had the reputation, the community, and thousands of traders vouching for them.
So when I decided to try FundingYourTrades (FYT), I'll admit I was skeptical.
Not because I had heard anything bad about them.
Simply because they weren't one of the "big names" everyone talks about.
As traders, we're conditioned to believe that bigger automatically means better.
But I wanted to judge them based on my own experience—not someone else's opinion.
So I traded.
I followed my plan, respected my risk management, and eventually became eligible for my first payout.
Then came the moment every trader secretly worries about.
"Will they actually pay?"
A few days later, I had my answer.
$1,200 landed in my account.
No unnecessary drama.
No endless back-and-forth.
No excuses.
Just a completed payout.
That experience changed something for me.
It reminded me that size isn't always the best measure of reliability.
A smaller prop firm still has to earn trust, and the only thing that truly builds trust is consistency.
Now, does one payout mean every experience will be perfect?
Of course not.
Every trader should still do their own research, read the rules carefully, and manage risk regardless of the firm they're trading with.
But if someone asked me today, "Do small prop firms actually pay?"
Based on my personal experience...
Yes.
At least in my experience with FundingYourTrades, they did exactly what they said they would.
This isn't an advertisement or financial advice.
It's simply one trader sharing an experience that answered a question I once had myself.
Sometimes the only way to know is to trade, stay disciplined, and let your own experience speak louder than assumptions.
And for me, that experience came with a $1,200 payout.
