I know "the trend is your friend." I have heard it a thousand times. But every time I see a strong move, my brain screams that it HAS to reverse soon. So I short the rallies, buy the dips. I am basically a professional counter trend trader and my P&L is tanking because of it.
I know intellectually that momentum is the play. I get it. But putting in trades that actually go WITH the direction feels dangerous. Like I am buying the top or selling the bottom in reverse. I freeze up or worse - I fade it.
Anyone else wrestle with this mental block? How do you guys actually trust the chart in front of you when your gut says the opposite? Or am I just broken?
